First Amendment in Wartime Forum

Kirkland and Ellis will provide brown bag lunches
Senior U.S. Judge William J. Bauer will moderate a First Amendment in Wartime forum at 12 noon Oct. 30 at Roosevelt University. Panelists will include Bernard Judge of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Joel Daly of WLS-TV, both members of the Chicago Journalism Hall of Fame sponsored by the International Press Club of Chicago, co-sponsor of the forum.
Other panelists will include former U.S. Atty. Anton Valukas, Atty. Michael J. Howlett jr., librarian Carolyn A Anthony and Ed Yohnka of the ACLU of Illinois. Admission is free.
Kirkland and Ellis will provide brown bag lunches. Besides the press club, sponsors include the Chicago Press Veterans Assn., the Chicago Headline club and the Illinois Library Assn.
Chairman of the forum is Arnie Matanky, president of the press club, aided by Herbert M. Kraus, Jordan Miller, John Camden and John McClelland.
Establishes Internet Presence
- In order to keep members and the press community regularly updated on IPCC activities
and news, the International Press Club of Chicago launched a website on August
- Director Sterling "Red" Quinlan said, "The new IPCC online presence will
be a valuable resource for our members." Film critic and club director Dr. Bob
Blackwood added, "As the site develops, we look forward to forging a new sense of
community and collaboration among the membership by utilizing emerging technologies such
as video conferencing."
